As we make our way from east to west we have set fixed points where the crew can join or leave the yacht. We make sure we have enough contingency in our itineraries to make sure that those who need to can make travel connections.
Apart from the fixed start and end points, the crew decides the week’s itinerary together. This depends on what everybody wants to do, but also on the weather; it can involve more or less time on land, visiting many different islands or spending more time on one or two, beaches or villages, fishing, hiking…
Sometimes we need to sail at night and usually there will be at least one long passage, during which the crew will take turns at keeping watch.
Sailing a long passage is a wonderful and surreal experience, especially out of sight of land and at night. With all the necessary safety equipment and a careful eye on the weather, it is not dangerous, and everyone should experience this adventure once in their lives!
